🧠 What Is Mission Cochlea?

Welcome to the official EarAware game — a fast-paced, sound-smart mission through the inner ear where you fight back against dangerous decibels and protect your precious hearing.

You start with 3,500 inner hair cells — just like the real human ear. These cells are your life force, your energy, and your future. Lose too many, and your hearing — and your mission — fail.

Your goal:
Answer hearing safety questions.
Identify dangerous noise levels.
Avoid friendly fire.
Make it all the way to Brigadier General in the Ear Force — with your hearing intact.

🎯 How to Play

  • 🚀 Fly through the Ear Canal: You're piloting a miniature aircraft inside a giant cochlea. The background is an immersive, stylized ear canal.

  • 🔫 Shoot the Right Targets:

    • Enemies are labeled with sound levels above 85 dB — these are dangerous and must be destroyed.

    • Friendlies are safe sounds at or below 85 dB — do NOT shoot them.
      Each target is flying with its dB level as its call sign (e.g., “95 dB,” “72 dB”).

  • ❓ Answer Knowledge Checks:
    Periodically, you'll be asked a hearing health question (A, B, C, or D). Shoot the correct answer while dodging and firing.

  • 💥 Every Mistake Costs You Hair Cells:

    • Shoot a friendly? You lose hair cells.

    • Get a question wrong? You lose hair cells.

    • Take a hit from a dB enemy? Yep — more cells lost.

🧬 Your Mission

You begin with 3,500 hair cells — that’s all you get. Forever.

You must:

  • Eliminate 85 dB+ enemies

  • Correctly answer 10 questions

  • Advance in rank from Recruit (E-1) all the way to Brigadier General (O-7)

Each level gets tougher. More enemies. Harder questions. Louder chaos. You’ll need sharp reflexes — and sharper hearing wisdom.
